Roman Imperial Gordianus III Pius (238-244), AR antoninianus (Silver), Rome, 241-243. Preserved with light patina, not over-cleaned

Weight: 5 grams, Diameter: 22.1 mm

Obverse: Bust of Gordian III, radiate, draped, cuirassed, right. 
IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG. Translation: Imperator Gordianus Pius Felix Augustus.
Supreme commander (Imperator), Gordian, the pious emperor (Augustus). 


Reverse: Fortuna, draped, seated left, holding rudder set on ground in right hand and cornucopiae in left hand; under seat, wheel. FORT REDVX. Translation: Fortuna Redux.
Fortune that brings back (the emperor to safety). 


This coin is approximately 1700 years old!
