Struck in the second year of the Jewish War, is often referred to as the “Masada coin” because a number of them were found atop the desert fortress overlooking the Dead Sea.
Description
Obverse: amphora with broad rim, two handles. Around it is the Hebrew inscription "year 2". (“Shenath Shethaim”)
Reverse: vine leaf on small branch and tendril, surrounded by Hebrew inscription "the Freedom of Zion" (“Cheruth Zion”).
Mint: JUDAEA, Jerusalem mint. ~67 AD
